Heart Care
More than 5.7 million people suffer from heart failure in the U.S. and approximately 915,000 additional people are diagnosed with the disease each year. The American Heart Association predicts there will be more than 8 million heart failure patients in the U.S. by 2030, with an associated increase to three million hospitalizations yearly. In Iredell County, diseases of the heart account for 18.8% of deaths in our community.
At Davis Regional Medical Center, we are a nationally accredited Chest Pain Center with an experienced team of medical professionals. Our team provides technologically advanced heart care delivered by knowledgeable, experienced cardiac professionals, including board-certified cardiologists with a combined 125+ years of experience. Our support team includes radiology technicians, registered nurses, and registered cardiovascular interventional specialists. Their combined experiences total more than 70 years.
Our cardiac care team provides complete heart care, from diagnosis and emergency intervention to treatments, preventive education and rehabilitation.
We offer same day cardiac catheterization procedures and intervention / treatments such as:
- Stent placement (holds an artery open and keeps it from closing again)
- Angioplasty (surgical repair or unblocking of a blood vessel, especially a coronary artery)
- PCI Coronary (widening of the coronary artery)
- Implantable cardiac monitors
- TEE tests (takes a detailed picture of the heart and its major blood vessels to detect heart valve disease, heart tumors, blood clots inside the heart, or an aneurysm)
- Peripheral vascular procedures for kidneys and legs
- Echocardiogram (uses sound waves to produce images of the heart for doctors to see if heart is beating and pumping blood)
- Radial PCI (catheter is placed in wrist rather than femoral artery which is easier for patients; offers minimal pain and reduced risk of bleeding; patients can go home the next day with minor work/life restrictions
