• Are you tired or sleepy during the daytime?
• Do you have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep?
• Do you have pauses in your breathing during sleep?
• Do you have restless sleep?
• Do you snore?
• Have you ever fallen asleep at work?
• Have you ever had a wreck or accident due to falling asleep or loss of concentration?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have a Sleep Disorder. A Sleep Disorder is a medical condition that disturbs your sleep cycle and affects your health and wellbeing. Thirty-five million Americans complain of Chronic Insomnia, and an estimated 5 to 6 percent of people has Sleep Apnea. Over 15 billion dollars in direct costs have been attributed to Sleep Disorders or Sleep Deprivation. Sadly, 95 percent of people with Sleep Disorders remain undiagnosed.

Consequences of Undiagnosed Sleep Disorders

Sleep disturbances are associated with neurological disorders, heart and lung diseases, mental illness, and addictions. Undetected sleep apnea can ruin a person's health and happiness, disrupt family, friendships, work and finances, and put you at risk for heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, pulmonary hypertension, diabetes, injury from accident, and premature death. With proper treatment and personal commitment, persons suffering from sleep apnea can once again have sound sleep and a normal life.

Treatment

Davis Regional Medical Center’s Sleep Disorders Clinic consists of a team of well-trained and experienced professionals who perform sleep studies and comprehensive evaluations to diagnose and treat sleep disorders. Types of sleep disorders treated in the clinic include, but are not limited to Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy, Insomnia, Restless Legs Syndrome, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, and Parasomnias (sleep walking, sleep talking, teeth grinding, etc...).

Some people are concerned about being able to fall asleep during the test. You will find our sleep lab very comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. All rooms are private, with full-size, regular beds, private bathrooms, and a TV to watch while you relax. There is no preparation required before your sleep study, and patients typically arrive at 8:00 pm and leave by 6:00 am the next morning. These convenient hours work well with most work schedules and you will not have to miss a day of work.
